Province of Drenthe presents grant for solutions to grid congestion problems
From January 15, the province of Drenthe will open the subsidy scheme "Solutions Grid Congestion in Renewable Energy Production. This scheme is specifically intended for initiators of renewable energy products that are unable to feed power back into the electricity grid. They can apply for feasibility studies or for technical solutions, for example for storage techniques. A total of €550,000 is available in the scheme, of which €50,000 is intended for feasibility studies and €500,000 for technical solutions.
The province of Drenthe concludes that energy storage and the smart matching of electricity supply and demand already offer short-term opportunities for connection solutions for new renewable energy generation facilities. They also contribute in the longer term to a more robust energy system and a stable energy grid. Deploying storage and increasing self-use will reduce the load on the electricity grid. This also applies after the realization of grid reinforcement, which grid operators are working hard on. More information about the subsidy scheme and submitting an application can be found through the subsidy desk from January 15, 2022.
Energy Storage NL compliments the province of Drenthe for opening up this subsidy scheme and calls on several provinces - also facing grid congestion problems - to follow this good example.
