Minister Jetten to work on Energy Storage Roadmap
During the Electricity Grid, Energy System and RES debate today, Minister Jetten announced his intention to create a roadmap for energy storage. In doing so, the minister indicated that he would like to shape this roadmap with the industry, citing contacts with Energy Storage NL and points previously submitted to the minister by the industry association. The roadmap is expected early next year.
With a roadmap, Energy Storage NL expects more clarity on the deployment of energy storage in the energy system and the route for different forms of storage to then achieve this goal. Energy Storage NL sent the idea of an Energy Storage Roadmap in a letter to the Lower House in preparation for the debate, see also the letter below. This letter was drafted together with the members of the Better Businesscase working group.
In the debate, several questions were also asked by the MPs about battery transportation tariffs. The minister indicated that he is only concerned with the classification of transport tariffs, but not the level of those tariffs. This, in fact, lies with the ACM. However, the minister did indicate that he would take the MPs' concerns about transport tariffs for batteries into account in the promised energy storage roadmap.
