Balancing debate in focus to encourage home and neighborhood batteries
Yesterday the House of Representatives debated the phasing out of the net-metering scheme. As an alternative to this phase-out, the Lower House is looking at encouraging home and neighborhood batteries. Earlier, the VVD and the ChristenUnie have proposed a plan presented encouraging an accelerated phase-out of the net-metering scheme and announcing a purchase subsidy for home and community batteries. D66 also supports this plan.
Energy Storage NL, together with the NVDE, Holland Solar and Netbeheer Nederland, among others, sent the following letter to the Lower House. It states that Energy Storage NL is also in favor of a further phasing out of the net-metering scheme and that, at the same time, the stimulation of home and community batteries, as well as the stimulation of decentralized heat storage, should be looked at.
Amendment Cable Pooling with energy storage
During the debate, D66 MP Boucke also introduced a amendment submitted in which it is legally possible to allow Cable Pooling with Energy Storage. Energy Storage NL previously created a model agreement with Ventolines and Invest NL for Cable Pooling with Energy Storage. A legal barrier still stands in the way of legally allowing this agreement. The submitted amendment now attempts to make Cable Pooling with Energy Storage legally possible now. The passage of this amendment does depend on sufficient support around the phase-out plan of the balancing scheme. Sufficient support for this is currently uncertain due to a coalition minority in the Senate.
