Pilot inspiration meeting at Aquabattery a success!
The first inspiration meeting at Aquabattery, organized by Energy Storage NL, offered a deeper look at the technology and features of the Aquabattery.
With a diverse group of ESNL participants from across the energy storage chain, an interesting discussion ensued about the challenges experienced in the sector. The lack of safety regulations for flow batteries, different or lacking policies between municipalities and provinces for national integration and the reluctance of banks and insurers for the business models came up for discussion. Following this, the application and integration of various energy storage technologies in society was discussed. Finally, ESNL gave a brief update on current developments in the field of capacity limiting contracts (CBC) and alternative transmission rights (ATR/NFA).
The Aquabattery is typified by its easy to obtain materials, namely water and table salt, where there is no fire hazard or hazardous substances can be released in case of leakage. This technology is intended for long-term storage (8h+) and is very easy to scale up in capacity. Aquabattery will see its first commercial applications appear on the market towards 2026.
Due to the success of this pilot inspiration meeting, ESNL plans to follow up with these small-scale sessions next year. If you are interested in hosting an inspiration session, please let us know at info@energystoragenl.nl
