Energy Storage NL privatizes within FME

The demand for innovative solutions to store energy is increasing. This increases the need to bring together parties facing grid congestion challenges on the one hand and companies offering solutions to them on the other. The FME Platform Energy Storage NL has grown spectacularly over the past year to almost 200 members. The platform will therefore become an independent branch within FME as of January 1, so that interests for this ever-growing group of companies can be better represented.

Energy storage for energy transition

Energy Storage NL stands up for the energy storage sector in the Netherlands. These include electricity, heat, and molecule storage. The use of energy storage is necessary because of the transition to weather-dependent solar and wind energy. In times of solar and wind deficient periods, energy storage can provide sufficient energy security. To enable rollout of energy storage in the Netherlands, the industry association acts as the advocate, networker and the knowledge center for the Dutch energy storage sector.

Theo Henrar, chairman FME: "Energy storage functions as a necessary link in the energy transition. After all, without energy storage there will be no sustainable, stable and affordable energy supply. It is therefore good that ESNL is becoming an independent industry organization within FME. We see that the sustainable technology of our member companies is necessary for energy issues. FME wants to support the technology industry and ESNL members can actively help with that."

Maarten van den Heuvel, chairman Energy Storage NL: "Together with our members, we have been able to make great strides in becoming a mature industry organization in recent years. It is now time to take the next step as an independent industry organization within FME. Together with FME, we have access to a broad network of parties who can help us further stimulate and innovate storage technology in its full breadth. In addition, we will work together in representing interests to accelerate the rollout of energy storage in the Netherlands."
