S4 Energy signs contract with Tesla Energy for large-scale hybrid energy storage project
S4 Energy, a specialist in developing and managing energy storage solutions, has signed a contract with Tesla to supply 12 Megapacks. With this, S4 Energy takes the next step in the large-scale development of energy storage systems to further stabilize the Dutch power grid.
Dominique Becker Hoff, CCO of S4 Energy, is pleased with this milestone: "We have been working closely with Tesla recently to realize this first joint project. We are very pleased with the synergy experienced by both our teams and cannot wait for the further rollout of our collaboration in the form of subsequent energy storage projects."
The first 12 Megapacks will be deployed in a hybrid energy storage installation, consisting of a combination of batteries and KINEXT flywheels. This installation, which cleverly combines the advantages of both storage media, will be used to provide services to the operator of the national high-voltage grid, TenneT, and to the regional grid operator, Stedin. The installation has a power of 11 MW and a capacity of 44 MWh and can thus store or supply electricity for 4 hours.
S4 Energy is on the eve of many more large-scale energy storage projects in the Netherlands and other European countries. These projects will be developed and implemented in collaboration between S4 Energy and Tesla.
