Saling scheme remains, despite objections from electricity sector

Today, the Senate voted by a majority against phasing out the solar panel balancing scheme. This means that the subsidy for feeding energy back from solar panels will remain in place. According to Energy Storage NL, this is a missed opportunity, because the scheme ensures that there is little incentive to consume self-generated energy. Also, with net-metering there is no incentive to install a home battery, for example, and it may further exacerbate the current grid congestion problem.

The verdict of the Senate may further delay the energy transition. ESNL is therefore happy to enter into discussions with the forming parties about solutions to the growing problems. In this we are pulling together with a coalition of NVDE, Energie Samen, Holland Solar, Energie Nederland, Netbeheer Nederland and FlexiblePower Alliance Network.
