TPStorage builds first battery on solar farm

In the municipality of Laarbeek, the first energy storage system (EOS) of TPStorage successfully installed. This innovative project brings together solar energy generation and storage. The EOS is located in the middle of the grounds of the Vossenberg solar farm from TPSolar. The realization of the system came about in cooperation with Batenburg Energy Technology.

The battery has a capacity of 1 MW and a storage capacity of 2.15 MWh. The system consists of several battery cabinets and a transformer/inverter combination. The combination of power generation with energy storage is called a co-located battery system. This contributes to more efficient integration of renewable energy in the region. This not only helps in reducing grid congestion, but also in making the best use of the solar energy generated. More information about this system and its benefits can be found in this fact sheet.

Cooperation with Batenburg Energietechniek

Batenburg Energietechniek supplies components and systems used in the electricity distribution network: from power generation to local connection. The various services they provide were the reason for TPStorage to enter into cooperation. 'We looked at the design together, looking for the right components for this particular project,' said Connor Hendriks, director-owner of TPStorage. 'The click with Batenburg was immediately good and together we learned a lot from an EOS from the development phase to the realization phase.'

Marco van Drimmelen, storage sales manager, is also pleased with the cooperation. 'For the Vossenberg solar park, we were able to fully realize the combination of compact station (transformer) and Vossenberg energy storage. The compact station plays a crucial role, since both the battery and the entire solar park are connected to it. This gives TPStorage/TPSolar a good basis for an efficient solar park that is ready for the future.

Construction

After a four-month construction period, the Vossenberg solar farm of TPSolar connected to the power grid. In January 2025, we started the construction of the EOS on the solar farm. The battery boxes and inverters have been installed and the connection will begin in the spring.
