Mobile storage knowledge session
Construction companies and new construction projects are increasingly experiencing problems due to grid congestion: a shortage of sufficient grid capacity on site. A construction connection above 3x80A is often no longer feasible, while the need for electric power is actually increasing due to stricter environmental regulations, such as nitrogen standards and emission restrictions. This is forcing the industry to deploy more electric equipment, which begs the question: how do we efficiently supply construction sites with sufficient power without delays or high costs?
Although technical solutions exist, such as mobile batteries and alternative energy solutions, both construction companies and energy storage providers struggle with which option is best suited for a specific situation. Moreover, local permitting requirements and regulations often present an additional obstacle. How can construction companies and mobile energy solution providers better work together to achieve a practical, scalable and rule-compliant approach?
Purpose of the session
This knowledge session brings the challenges of grid congestion and available solutions, such as mobile energy storage, closer together. Members of Bouwend Nederland and Energy Storage NL together explore how construction projects can be powered more efficiently and reliably.
We focus on two main questions:
- Energy during the construction phase: How can construction sites, where standard construction connections up to 3x80A are often insufficient, still get sufficient power for heavy equipment, loading infrastructure and other facilities? What temporary or mobile solutions are available for this?
- Energy for the finished product: In small-scale residential construction, there is often still some grid capacity, but projects involving high-rise buildings, loading plazas and neighborhood facilities quickly run into limitations. What are possible solutions if the grid does not offer immediate space?
There is a lot to accomplish but what consequences does it have on the cost of the final product? Is it still calculable? By bringing chain partners together, we encourage cooperation and knowledge sharing. The goal is to identify practically applicable solutions, learn faster from previous experiences and future-proof energy supply for the construction sector.
