Who we are.

Eaton Electrical is an international power management company with electrical solutions across the entire energy chain. With systems, components and solutions both before and after the meter, Eaton is committed to driving the energy transition, improving quality of life and protecting people and the environment. Eaton's energy storage systems are also of an electrical engineering nature.

What do we do?

To help the market and building owners and drive the energy transition, Eaton launched an approach in 2020 that uses the building as the centerpiece in the energy transition: Buildings as a Grid. This Buildings as a Grid' vision provides an all-in-one approach in which building owners gain control over their own energy system; from energy generation, energy storage to energy consumption when desired. This creates a micro-grid: the building becomes a true energy hub. This results in many benefits, including; optimal consumption of CO2-free energy generation, significant reduction of energy transportation, favorable payback of investments in energy generation and energy storage. As a power management company, we aim to optimize all types of buildings, from residential complexes, individual homes to commercial buildings such as offices, factories, data centers as well as hotels, retail and "on-the-go" facilities. Central to the Buildings as a Grid approach is energy storage. In fact, without energy storage, optimal energy management cannot take place as well.

What projects have we accomplished?

The projects where Eaton has realized energy storage in recent years are strongly related to the grid congestion problem in the Dutch energy landscape. Grid congestion causes various social problems and also stagnates the energy transition. These problems manifest themselves in all kinds of segments, including SMEs. Eaton has chosen to lend a helping hand to precisely this sector with Buildings as a Grid. The projects that have since been realized are therefore mainly in this sector, a few examples:

• • Hotel the Florian - placement of 40 kW/50kWh - due to grid congestion it was not possible to get the required grid connection
  • Teuge Airport - Flying school for electric aircraft - placement of 200 kW/500kWh Due to congestion not possible to charge the electric aircraft
  • Equestrian center - 80 kW/200kWh placement - due to the sparsely populated area at the end of power grid suffers from voltage dips and the energy storage system ensures clean power supply, further the system provides emergency power in case of grid failure.
  • Bakery - installation of 40 kW/50kWh - due to grid congestion, the just remodeled bakery could not open due to the installation of additional ovens.
  • Office building - placement of 40 kW/50kWh - conservation measures not possible due to grid congestion
  • Vacation park - placement of 40 kW/50kWh - placement of additional cottages not possible due to grid congestion
  • Self-Storage business - placement of 80 kW/200kWh - expansion business not possible due to grid congestion
  • In addition to the above examples, several projects have been completed or are under development in the agricultural sector, industrial sector, larger homes, amusement parks, etc.
