Who are we?

Power to Power has developed a unique energy hub that achieves seasonal storage and prevents grid congestion. We use decentralized Power-to-Gas and Gas-to-Power technology for residential neighborhoods, utility buildings and industrial sites. Unlike electrical storage systems, the Power to Power system does not require additional capacity from the power grid, because it converts renewable energy into (green gas) molecules and stores them in the existing gas grid. This offers the possibility of storing very large amounts of energy without grid congestion problems. Within 3 years, Power to Power aims to bring this scalable system to the market across Europe, making a significant contribution to achieving climate goals. The idea for Power to Power originated from Cornelis Huygens Realty Group, our sister company. Cornelis Huygens regularly encounters sustainability challenges in new construction and renovation projects, such as energy performance requirements (BENG / Zero-Meter, sustainable energy storage) and grid congestion. As a result, new construction, renovations and expansions incur major delays. Power to Power's solutions prevent these delays and accelerate the energy transition.

What do we do?

Power to Power builds facilities that convert renewable energy (CO2 neutral) to synthetic green gas and then convert it back to electricity and heat. The energy hub enables the transition from fossil to renewable energy sources, available year-round. This results in an expansion of energy storage and greater flexibility of the energy infrastructure. Most storage methods are suitable for relatively short storage duration (daily peaks and troughs, day/night, dunkelflaute). Power-to-Gas (P2G) technology makes it possible and affordable to bridge seasons, from summer months to winter months. Sustainably generated electricity is converted to methane (CH4) via hydrogen and green CO2 and then fed into the gas grid. It can then be retrieved at any time for electricity and heat. The production unit is placed in a 40-foot container and can be installed at any location with a gas connection. The synthetic gas produced meets all specifications for feeding into the Dutch gas grid. We utilize our largest existing energy storage infrastructure (gas grid) in a sustainable way.
