Vattenfall develops commercial batteries. The projects currently in operation mainly operate in the FCR market, further also in the inbalance and capacity markets. The use case for future energy storage projects is expected to shift more toward energy shifting.
What projects have we accomplished?
- Battery Alexia in the Netherlands, in operation from 2017; 3.2MW/3MWh
- Battery PyC in UK, in operation from 2018; 22MW/15MWh
- Battery Haringvliet in Netherlands, 2020; 12MW/12MWh
- Battery Uppsala in Sweden, 2021; 5MW/20MWh
- Battery Ray in UK, 2023; 20MW/40MWh
- Battery Hjuleberg & Battery Högevag in Sweden; under construction
- Some smaller batteries for electric charging, deferring grid investments and peak shaving.
