Castor

After a successful installation, SemperPower's second large-scale energy storage project, Project Castor, will be commissioned in September 2023. This battery system, rated at 30 megawatts and with a capacity of 63 megawatt hours, is the largest operational battery project in the Netherlands and among the largest in northwestern Europe.

Volatility of renewable energy portfolios overcome

Our supply and installation partner Rolls-Royce built the system at North Sea Port's energy hub in Vlissingen-Oost, with a direct connection to Stedin's network. The 30 MW/ 63 MWh battery system will be used long-term to overcome the volatility of renewable energy portfolios. This will contribute to faster integration of renewable energy in the Dutch electricity market.
