Temporary shelter in the municipality

All municipalities have to deal with temporary asylum shelters. Often a housing solution has to be realized fairly soon. With power supply. And that is quite a task. Fortunately, the municipality of Rotterdam has arranged this quickly.

For years, the Municipality of Rotterdam has been committed to providing good shelter for asylum seekers in the city. For example, they offer temporary housing in converted office buildings or flex housing. But not all municipalities have the space for this option. Even Rotterdam sometimes falls short.

That's why the municipality is betting on asylum ships: ships that come ashore and serve as temporary living quarters. But how do you power these temporary shelters if there is no grid connection?

Silent, sustainable energy. Everywhere

Greener batteries are a sustainable, quiet and quick solution. At asylum ship Arkona in Rotterdam, for example, a power supply was needed quickly. The municipality made a request, and the very next day Greener was on site with a customized power solution.

We connected two Greener batteries to a generator. The generator turns on only when the batteries need to recharge. Once they are full, the generator turns off. The batteries power the entire ship.

The Energy Management System also employs a night mode. With this, the batteries calculate how much energy they need to get through the night, and charge themselves sufficiently in advance. That way, the generator never has to be on at night. That saves a lot of noise. Nice for the people living in the neighborhood.
