Mufasa- Flushing Port

One of the largest battery parks in Europe is coming to Vlissingen. Under the name Mufasa, Lion Storage will build an installation there to store renewable electricity. The project strengthens North Sea Port's position as a hub for the production and distribution of renewable energy.

The new battery energy storage system (BESS) will be operational in the first half of 2027. The batteries will be capable of charging and discharging 1,400 MWh with a power capacity of 350 MW several times a day. That is enough to power over 200,000 households. This is the very largest BESS installation in the Netherlands and one of the largest electricity storage projects in Europe. Battery farms of this type are desperately needed to balance supply and demand in renewable energy.
