Peak shaving at Telecom operator

Due to capacity growth in a data center in the Alkmaar region, where capacity expansion was not possible due to a limitation of the contracted transmission capacity, we installed a Peak shaving installation. Assuming an expansion of 20kW load in the data center, a solution was chosen with 40 470Wp PV panels on the roof in combination with classical lead-acid batteries of 66.3kWh. By means of this installation, the peak currents caused by the cooling units are equalized, leaving power available on the grid connection for the IT equipment.
