For the first time in the Netherlands, a plant is being set up where experience is being gained in converting sustainably generated electricity into hydrogen on a scale of 1 Megawatt (MW). EnergyStock and Gasunie New Energy are planning to start a pilot project for this at Aardgasbuffer Zuidwending. Large-scale production of green hydrogen is necessary to meet the 2050 climate goals. In the Netherlands, this so-called principle of power-to-gas is hardly applied. We believe that the natural gas buffer can eventually play an important role in this and grow into an energy hub.
